Of a particular beauty, the wooden church “Holy Mother’s Entrance” in Bârsana is specific to small Maramureș’ churches with a double roof.
The place built in 1720 was originally a monastery church, being converted into a parish church in 1806, when it was also moved to the present site. The interior walls were redecorated with paintings in 1806. Due to its inestimable value, the church has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1999.
