Restaurant Casa lu’ Dochia

Somewhere in Breb, Maramureș, Romania, there is Casa Morosenilor, composed of two traditional houses, Casa lu ’Piștău (The House of Piștău) and Casa lu’ Ștefan (Stephan’s House). The two houses are over 100 years old and were relocated from the neighboring village, and now they are both part of the Casa Moroşenilor Guesthouse.
Casa lu ‘Dochia restaurant is part of the Casa Moroșenilor complex. The owners of the Guesthouse started the business in 2019 with the first house called Casa lu’ Dochia (Dochia’s House). The name comes from the old woman who used to live there. The restaurant is located in the same garden, just next to the two houses, Casa lu ’Ştefan (Stephan’s House) and Casa lu’ Piştău (The House of Piștău). These names also come from the former owners, which the current landlords have chosen to keep together with some beautiful restored old objects from the houses. In this way the memory of the former owners is preserved, they say.
The restaurant’s cook is a nice lady who prepares tasty traditional dishes, from „sarmale” (stuffed cabbage) to pies and „balmoş” (typical shepherd’s food). The owners of the Guesthouse can also offer carriage rides in the village, so the guests can enjoy the beauties of the area, but also learn the stories of the locals.
The restaurant Casa lu’Dochia (Dochia’s House) and the two houses found under the name of Casa Moroșenilor serve and host tourists from all over the world, including Romanian tourists who choose to enjoy a few days of peace and relaxation in the traditional Romanian villages. The owners are a young couple, very dedicated to provide quality services to those who step on their doorstep.
