Chioar Land is one of the four ethnographic areas of Maramures county. The village of Berinta is located in a beautiful area of Chioar Land where the curious wonderer can meet a very skilled craftsman, the wood carver Ștefan Jula. His love and passion for tradition and cultural identity can be easily seen in his works and his private ethnographic and folk art museum. From the imposing traditional Maramures wooden gates to small, but beautiful household items, mister Jula is very passionate about what he does. Visitors can visit and admire the small wooden museum house he designed so as to highlight the craftsmanship of wood, but also other traditional crafts. Although the way to his household is not that visible, one can always ask about him in the village as locals know where he lives. It is a lovely place at the foot of the forest. Once you enter his property, mister Stefan Jula will gladly welcome and share with you his love for this craft and tradition.
